Anwendungen lassen sich bereits installieren

Apples kleine TV-Kiste mit iOS wird von Jailbreakern bereits bearbeitet. Es lassen sich aber auch auf offiziellem Weg Anwendungen installieren. Nur eine kleine Veränderung ist notwendig, um dem Apple TV Apps unterzuschieben.

Time Machine auf NAS mit Snow Leopard

Der Zugriff auf mein NAS (Iomega Home Media Network Hard Drive) geht über das Apple File Protokoll und Samba. Im Normalen Betrieb überhaupt kein Problem. Aber nicht mit AFP und Time Machine. Ich habe alles versucht, auch den Trick von Tingel77, aber es war nichts zu machen, TM wollte das NAS nicht erkennen.
Dann habe ich einmal Samba(smb://... statt afp://...) als Protokoll ausprobliert, und schlagartig ging alles einwandfrei. Nur das Sparsebundlemusste ich per Hand anlegen.

Just for the record: Das hat auch bei mir geklappt. Time Machine backt wieder up.

Meedia: Erster Test: die iPad-Apps der Verlage

Die Welt: Einen interessanten Schritt geht die "HD"-App der Axel-Springer-Tageszeitung Die Welt. Anstatt die Inhalte der Print-Ausgabe einfach wiederzuveröffentlichen, gibt es über den gesamten Tag hinweg immer wieder eine neue "Ausgabe" der iPad-Zeitung. Die wird dann vom Server geladen und besteht aus aktuellen Artikeln aus allen Ressorts. Die Zeitung bleibt also immer halbwegs aktuell.

Sicher ist schon mal: Axel Springer hat die meisten Apps. In der Aufzählung fehlt noch das Magazin "The Iconist".

(Viel hilft viel. Hoffentlich.)

Thoughts on Flash from Steve Jobs

Besides the fact that Flash is closed and proprietary, has major technical drawbacks, and doesn’t support touch based devices, there is an even more important reason we do not allow Flash on iPhones, iPods and iPads. We have discussed the downsides of using Flash to play video and interactive content from websites, but Adobe also wants developers to adopt Flash to create apps that run on our mobile devices.

We know from painful experience that letting a third party layer of software come between the platform and the developer ultimately results in sub-standard apps and hinders the enhancement and progress of the platform. If developers grow dependent on third party development libraries and tools, they can only take advantage of platform enhancements if and when the third party chooses to adopt the new features. We cannot be at the mercy of a third party deciding if and when they will make our enhancements available to our developers.
